For more than 35 years, the Krasniansky family has built its life around wood. What began with mobile sawmilling operations across Chile has evolved into Seforma, a modern sawmill in Villarrica that combines decades of experience with industrial technology to produce high-quality lumber for the Chilean market.
Officially established in November 2000, Seforma represents the continuation of a family legacy that spans four generations. Today, under the leadership of Matías Krasniansky and alongside his father, the company continues to grow while remaining committed to quality, efficiency, and long-term relationships—values that have also defined its decades-long partnership with Wood-Mizer.

From Mobile Sawmilling to a Modern Industrial Operation
Long before Seforma operated from its current facility near Villarrica, the family brought the sawmill directly to the forest.
Matías explains that his father began his sawmilling career at just 23 years old, operating a portable Wood-Mizer sawmill at logging sites throughout Chile. Rather than transporting logs over long distances, the equipment was taken directly to the harvesting areas, where lumber was produced on-site.
As the business grew, so did its vision. Today, Seforma operates from a centralized facility where logs from different forests are delivered, processed, and shipped from a single location, allowing the company to improve logistics, consistency, and production efficiency.
Currently, Seforma processes logs ranging from 20 to 60 cm (8"–24") in diameter and lengths of 3.2, 4, 5, and 6 meters (10'6", 13', 16'5", and 19'8"). The company produces approximately 30,000 board inches of lumber each month while maintaining an average recovery of 25 board inches per cubic meter, with a useful recovery of 20 board inches per cubic meter.
Growing Alongside Wood-Mizer
Seforma's relationship with Wood-Mizer stretches back to the very beginning of the company's history.
Matías' father was among the first sawmill operators in Chile to invest in Wood-Mizer technology, starting with an LT40 portable sawmill. Over the years, the company continued to embrace new innovations, becoming the first operation in Chile to introduce Wood-Mizer's electric sawmill technology and later the first to install an LT70 in the country.
That commitment to innovation continues today with a modern industrial line centered around the Wood-Mizer TV2000 Twin Vertical Saw and an HR700 Double Head Resaw.
"We've always stayed up to date with Wood-Mizer. The machines deliver outstanding quality, require very little beyond routine maintenance, and have proven to be extremely reliable. That's why we've never looked for another alternative."
Designed for continuous industrial production, Seforma's TV2000 processes approximately three logs per minute before material moves through the HR700 Double Head Resaw and the remaining processing stages, including edging and trimming, to produce dimensional lumber with exceptional consistency.
For Matías, the technology is about much more than speed.
"The precision of the cut allows us to produce lumber with excellent dimensional accuracy and consistency. That quality is one of the reasons our customers continue to trust us."
Building Quality Through People
While equipment plays an essential role in production, Matías believes the company's greatest strength is its people.
Today, Seforma employs 15 people, many of whom have spent years with the company. Their experience and commitment help keep the production line running efficiently every day.
Each morning begins before the rest of the crew arrives. Saw blades are sharpened and prepared, ensuring the equipment is ready before production starts. Once the team is assembled, the entire line works as one coordinated operation.
"In an industrial line, every position matters," Matías explains. "If one person is missing, the entire process is affected."
The company also maintains a close relationship with the local community by supplying firewood produced from sawmill byproducts, ensuring that materials are put to good use while supporting nearby residents.
Looking Toward the Future
Although Seforma has already established itself as a respected lumber producer, Matías sees even greater opportunities ahead.
Having joined the business only two years ago after working in construction, he hopes to expand the company's capabilities beyond rough lumber by adding more value throughout the production process.
His long-term vision is to integrate every stage of manufacturing—from logs to finished wood products—and eventually move into prefabricated timber homes and wood construction.
"The goal is to continue growing, develop new products, and integrate more of the production process. We want to leave a stronger company for the next generation while continuing to contribute to our community."
For Matías, carrying on the family business is about more than operating a successful sawmill.
Working alongside his father each day gives him the opportunity to learn from decades of experience while preparing Seforma for the future.
"Working together with my father makes me incredibly proud. I have the chance to spend time with him every day, learn from everything he's experienced, and continue building what our family has worked so hard to create."
